    LTR 1220 acts as counterweight for a Liebherr LR 1600/2 crawler crane

    Crane contractor Helling based in Schwäbisch Gmünd in southern Germany provided an object lesson in the perfect use of crane equipment and synergies in large wind farms. A Liebherr LTR 1220 telescopic crawler crane which was at the site anyway for set-up work, was used by Helling as a counterweight for lowering and erecting the large LR 1600/2 crane rather than the usual ballast blocks. If the topography and farmers allow, the smaller crane can also be used to move the large crane to the next turbine.

    Impressive simultaneous job on the banks of the Rhine – Two Liebherr mobile cranes shorten giant electricity pylons near Voerde

    Specialists from heavy load logistics provider and crane operator Wasel in Bergheim completed an impressive job in the summer on the Rhine near Dinslaken using two Liebherr LTM 1500-8.1 mobile cranes. Two 138-metre-tall electricity pylons had to be shortened and their mastheads rebuilt. In addition to their own 500-tonner, Wasel deployed another LTM 1500-8.1 from Cologne-based crane rental company HKV Schmitz + Partner to complete the job, which required simultaneously working on both sides of the river.

    The Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York is the largest tennis stadium in the world and the venue for the US Open. The stadium is now getting a retractable roof to avoid the frequent match postponements at the US Open caused by rain. Over a period of ten months, a Liebherr LR 11000 crawler crane and two LR 1600/2 operated by American crane contractor Buckner HeavyLift Cranes have been putting the steel structure for the roof in place.

    The motorway section of the A3 between Cologne-Mülheim and Leverkusen is being expanded to eight lanes. However, since the old motorway bridges are not long enough for the expansion, new bridges are needed. As a temporary solution during the construction work, a Liebherr LTM 1300-6.2 mobile crane was used by the company HKV Schmitz + Partner to erect a makeshift bridge overnight.

    Crane and heavy load logistics contractor Maxikraft used two large Liebherr mobile cranes in July to load two condensers and a turbine from low loaders into ships in Dresden's Alberthafen dock. The challenge was that the giant components had to be moved in tandem hoists between the LTM 1500-8.1 and the LTM 1750-9.1 before they could be lowered into the dock basin.

    Mexican company GMVykon expands fleet with a Liebherr LTM 1750-9.1 mobile crane

    Liebherr recently completed the first delivery of an LTM 1750-9.1 crane to Mexico. At the start of July, Mexican crane contractor GMVykon took delivery of the new 750-tonne crane at the Liebherr factory site in Monterrey (Mexico). The 9-axle mobile crane represents a major upwards expansion of the company's fleet and it is now the most powerful crane in the vehicle pool. GMVykon gave its reasons for buying from Liebherr as its well-known good service and its direct presence in Mexico.
