Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1 joins PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur’s fleet in Indonesia

PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur (PKT), one of Asia’s largest fertiliser producers, has added a Liebherr mobile crane to its fleet for the first time. With the LTM 1230-5.1, the Indonesian company is relying on state-of-the-art crane technology to efficiently and safely handle the daily lifting requirements in fertiliser production. “The LTM 1230-5.1 is perfect for our requirements. The 230-tonne crane from Liebherr is the only crane on the market that meets our specific requirements,” explains Joko Susilo of PKT.

Thanks to VarioBase®Plus support technology, the LTM 1230-5.1 achieves maximum lifting capacities, especially in the rear working area – calculated in real time by the intelligent LICCON control system. “The single-engine concept ensures economical operation, and the 75-metre telescopic boom is indispensable for our daily lifting tasks. In addition, the compact dimensions and small slewing radius are the ideal solution for our confined working areas,” says Susilo.

High-quality crane for the highest production standards

PKT will primarily use the new 5-axle crane for lifting plant components at its Bontang production site. The company employs around 1,300 people there and operates five ammonia, five urea and three NPK plants. In addition to production for the domestic market, PKT also exports worldwide and is committed to the highest quality standards and state-of-the-art technology.
