Powerful cranes for bold visions: Liebherr supports the LOVT Vision urban development project in Munich

  • Five Liebherr tower cranes support the construction of the mixed-use LOVT Vision project on Rosenheimer street in Munich
  • A combination of EC-B and HC-L tower cranes enables efficient construction in the city centre
  • Restricted space and limited visibility require precise crane control and detailed deployment planning

With the LOVT Vision project, a modern urban district is taking shape on Rosenheimer street in Munich. To meet the demanding construction requirements under confined inner-city conditions, the project team relies on the high service quality of Nagel Mietservice GmbH for crane deployment planning. Five Liebherr cranes provide the necessary lifting capacity and precision.

Located on Rosenheimer street, the LOVT Vision transformation project is creating a high-quality mixed-use ensemble covering approximately 390,000 m², combining working, living and vibrant urban spaces. Construction began in December 2025, with completion scheduled for the end of 2027. The project places particularly high demands on logistics, technology and coordination due to its central location, construction within existing structures and limited space.

High-performance Liebherr tower cranes for demanding construction processes

A total of five Liebherr tower cranes are deployed on site: one 520 EC-B 20 Fibre, one 230 HC-L 8/16, and three 160 EC-B 8 Litronic cranes. This crane configuration offers a broad performance spectrum and has been precisely tailored to the different construction phases and requirements of the project.

The 520 EC-B 20 Fibre is primarily responsible for heavy lifting operations and benefits from Liebherr’s fibre rope technology, which enables lower rope weight, higher lifting capacities and exceptionally precise handling. The advanced fibre rope is significantly lighter than conventional steel rope, allowing heavier loads to be lifted over greater radius. At the same time, it offers a substantially longer service life and reduced maintenance requirements. On long-term construction sites such as LOVT Vision, this results in less downtime and increased productivity. These technological advantages are particularly evident in precise lifting operations within a dense urban environment, where efficiency gains are clearly noticeable.

The 520 EC-B 20 Fibre is complemented by the 230 HC-L luffing jib crane, which is ideally suited to work in areas with restricted slewing space. The HC-L series is characterised by its compact design and high lifting capacities. Its luffing jib allows the radius to be flexibly adjusted to suit site conditions, enabling safe and efficient operation in tight inner-city areas. In addition, three EC-B flat-top cranes complete the setup, impressing with their compact design, efficient assembly and high level of flexibility.

Construction within existing structures requires precise planning, reliable technology and strong partners

One of the key challenges of the project lies in construction within existing structures under tight urban conditions. In some areas, restricted visibility further complicates crane operations. As a result, precise controllability, high operational safety and reliable technology are essential.

The crane deployment planning, including assembly and dismantling concepts, was developed by Nagel Mietservice GmbH in close coordination with Markgraf. This careful planning ensures that the cranes are optimally positioned and that all lifting and lowering operations can be carried out safely and efficiently, even under demanding conditions. Service support played a decisive role in the selection of Liebherr tower cranes. The high service quality and close project support provided by Nagel Mietservice GmbH were explicitly cited by the project team as key decision factors. Particularly for long-term urban construction projects, a reliable partnership is crucial to ensure smooth operations and the flexibility to respond to unforeseen challenges.

An urban project with a clear vision

With LOVT Vision, a forward-looking urban district is being developed in Munich, setting new standards in terms of sustainability and quality of life. Around 8,000 square meters of publicly accessible roof terraces and green spaces create new open urban areas actively contributing to improving the city climate. At the same time, the project creates an ecologically valuable habitat, including a planned home for approximately 60,000 bees, which will be integrated into the site’s biodiversity concept. The project is based on a respectful approach to existing structures worthy of preservation and aims to create a green, creative place of encounter for tenants and visitors alike. The use of timber construction combined with efficiently deployed concrete underlines the project’s sustainable ambitions. Designed as a CO₂-neutral development, LOVT Vision provides a strong impulse for future-oriented urban construction.

With its prominent location, architectural quality and mixed-use concept, the project sends a clear signal for the continued development of the city. The Liebherr tower cranes deployed on site play a decisive role in this success by enabling efficient, safe and precise construction, even under challenging conditions.
