With the introduction of electronic shelf labels Liebherr-Aerospace's services take another step towards more digitization in the company’s MRO shop environment for the benefit of customers.

Individual repair dossier information, such as work scope or priority, is displayed on each internal transportation box simultaneously updating itself when changes are recorded in the Liebherr manufacturing execution system eLIROM. Thus, the repair shop staff can stay focused on their tasks without having to worry about missing any updates or changes related to their work.

"Electronic shelf labels offer several great advantages," explains Thibaut Mielke, Project Manager Digital Smart MRO at Liebherr-Aerospace. "The latest service status of each repair dossier is now visually available 24/7. In addition to enhanced information transparency, these electronic shelf labels can be located and have the capability to give visual signals, which speeds up the picking process for the mechanic. We are convinced that the electronic shelf labels will not only improve the quality of our MRO services but will also help us to set new standards within our global MRO network.”

Best-in-class-service for customers

Thanks to the electronic labels, the transport crates containing MRO components are linked to Liebherr-Aerospace's eLIROM system. Among other things, the shop finding report is also stored there, providing information on the status of the MRO work process. All further progress and comments are recorded in eLIROM so that they are digitally accessible at any time. “That way, the new labels contribute to our Real-Time Location System strategy. In the volatile MRO business improving predictability is very important and a major challenge, especially to achieve best-in-class services for customers. The new system makes this process much more transparent”, adds Thibaut Mielke.
