Press releases | 06/30/2015 Rech Kranservice extends crane range with purchase of Liebherr LTM 1200-5.1 mobile crane with VarioBase®

  • Rech Kranservice invests in Liebherr LTM 1200-5.1 mobile crane with VarioBase®
  • LTM 1200-5.1 achieve top load capacities even with partial ballast
  • Uniform LICCON control on all Liebherr cranes in the fleet

Rech Kranservice has extended its crane range with a new Liebherr mobile crane – the LTM 1200-5.1 is now the most powerful crane in the fleet. It is stationed at the company's new site in Kaiserslautern. The 200-tonne model was ordered with the innovative VarioBase® supporting system which delivers more safety, higher load capacities and a larger working radius.

"We decided on the LTM 1200-5.1 because its variable supporting base VarioBase® enables it to achieve outstanding load capacity values at optimum boom length", says Managing Director Astrid Hietzker from Rech Kranservice GmbH about the 200-tonne crane with its 72-metre telescopic boom. With VarioBase® the LICCON crane control calculated the maximum load capacities precisely for every given situation. The system can handle even higher load capacities, particularly when hoisting over the supports.

Rech also stresses that due to its ballast variants, the LTM 1200-5.1 is extremely flexible and can also be used as a 160, 170 or 180-tonne crane. The Liebherr crane achieves top load capacities over its complete operating range also with partial ballast. Another factor behind the decision to buy the LTM 1200-5.1 was its intelligent LICCON2 crane control. Since the company's fleet almost exclusively comprises Liebherr cranes, all of them feature the same control, making them straightforward for any driver to operate. Astrid Hietzker believes that the full Liebherr package is extremely important: "Liebherr's high quality, reliable after-sales service and excellent service performance are very important to us."

Increased demand from the market for a 200-tonne crane was the reason behind the company's decision to invest in the LTM 1200-5.1. The company also wants to use the machine to attract new industrial and assembly customers. The LTM 1200-5.1 will primarily be used for handling prefabricated concrete components and erecting tower cranes.

Rech Kranservice first opened for business in 1999 in Baumholder in the German State of Rhineland-Palatinate. Rech now has a workforce of 22 and has opened a second site in Kaiserslautern. The Baumholder site is due to be expanded this year with a new maintenance building and office complex.
