All-electric drive for Liebherr portal cranes

The all-electric drive is connected to the local power grid, allowing for locally zero-emission operation. The drive concept offers two ways of energy recuperation. The electricity recovered from lowering can be fed back into the local power grid or stored in high-performance capacitors to retrieve the energy when needed. Both options reduce operational costs compared to conventional drive systems.

High voltage versus low voltage

For emission-free operation of your mobile harbour crane, you can choose two options depending on the harbour infrastructure. Connect your crane to a low voltage network from 400 volt or a high voltage network up to 20,000 volt. In case you use a high voltage supply, a converter installed on the undercarriage transforms high to low voltage. Thus, only low voltage is present in the crane itself.

One cable drum, different solutions

We offer the option of a cable-reeling drum for the safe movement of the crane with the cable. Cable length can accommodate customer requirements depending on the voltage present at the feed point. This ensures emission-free lifting and electrical travel of the crane along the quayside.

Cable drum on undercarriage with low voltage

With this option, the cable drum is located at the rear of the undercarriage, combined with a lose installation of the cable on the quay. The position of the cable can be flexibly chosen.

The low voltage supply allows an easy handling due to variable connection possibilities.

Cable drum on undercarriage with high voltage

The high voltage cable drum is attached to the rear of the undercarriage and the cable lies in a duct embedded in the ground. The usage of a duct ensures that the cable remains in place and protects it from damage.

The high voltage cable drum offers different performance levels and longer travel lengths.
