Montage- und Kranservice Werner GmbH has taken delivery of an LTM 1055-3.3. The Liebherr 3-axle mobile crane redefines mobility, as time-consuming and restrictive driving permits are now a thing of the past. Low axle loads and gross vehicle weights enable nationwide permanent driving permits and ensure maximum operational flexibility. The new 55-tonne crane replaces an older 60-tonne model in the fleet of the Berlin-Mahlsdorf-based company.
“When I saw the new LTM 1055-3.3 at Bauma 2025, I knew straight away: I want that one,” says company owner Detlef Werner. “The nine-tonne axle load and the new axle configuration won me over immediately.” Detlef Werner is a hands-on man: “I operate my cranes myself. The axle configuration – two at the front and one at the rear – is ideal, because you usually drive backwards onto the construction site – you can now negotiate bends more easily and pull the boom along behind you.”
The LTM 1055-3.3 is the lightest 3-axle all-terrain crane on the market. Thanks to its lightweight construction, it can be driven with an axle load of under 9 tonnes and – depending on the configuration – a gross vehicle weight of less than 26 tonnes. At the same time, its long telescopic boom offers high lifting capacities, particularly at medium and long reaches.
With its dimensions and axle loads, the LTM 1055-3.3 falls within the so-called ‘no-notification’ zone in accordance with VwV-StVO §29. “With the new crane, I’m completely flexible in Berlin and Brandenburg and can respond immediately to customer enquiries without having to factor in long lead times,” says Detlef Werner. “Even without counterweight, we can carry out a wide range of crane jobs. Otherwise, we transport the counterweight to the construction site using standard lorries.”
Werner is full of praise for Liebherr’s RemoteDrive radio remote control system: “On tight construction sites, I can control the vehicle from outside and thus have a perfect view – it’s brilliant.” The entrepreneur finds the LICCON3- control system very user-friendly. “The training took place at our depot – we were able to get to grips with it quickly. Some things have even become easier.”
Detlef Werner founded his company 27 years ago. With his son Ivan on board, the second generation is now at the helm of the five-man business. The crane and assembly firm covers the full range from mini, loader and mobile cranes up to a lifting capacity of 120 tonnes. The largest crane in the fleet, an LTM 1120-4.1, is also from Liebherr. “Liebherr’s service is top-notch; everything happens very quickly – including the delivery of spare parts. We receive excellent support from the Alt Bork service branch. It’s important that the cranes are back up and running quickly if there’s ever a problem.”
