Hans Liebherr’s entrepreneurial journey is a tale of opportunity and vision! It all began with a casual chat with the branch manager of his local bank, who mentioned a fridge factory for sale. This sparked an exciting idea in Hans’s mind.
He quickly realised the immense potential in the refrigeration market. At that time, only one in ten German households owned a fridge, but with economic growth on the horizon, the demand was set to soar. Rather than purchasing the existing factory, Hans chose to harness his vision and leverage his own production capabilities at the Ochsenhausen site in southern Germany.
In 1954, the first Liebherr fridge rolled off the production line, marking the beginning of a legacy. Today, we proudly continue to manufacture high-quality fridges and freezers at the same location, driven by the same passion and commitment to excellence that Hans Liebherr instilled from the very start.
