Slewing drive units by Liebherr
Based on decades of experience in the production of high-value components, Liebherr has developed slewing drive units whose elements are perfectly in tune with one another. The ready-to-install rotating units are impressively easy to assemble and to service. They can be driven by either a hydraulic or an electric motor. With its worm, spur gear and toothed belt slewing drive units the Liebherr portfolio contains a wide spectrum of solutions for steering, rotating and slewing applications.
Worm slewing drive units

Compact worm drive with high power density
The compact worm drives are distinguished by their high power density. The worm gearing ensures transfer of the torque to the slewing bearing. This design is particularly suited where high forces are at play and limited space is available, such as in steering gearboxes for the undercarriages of cranes and heavy-duty vehicles, loading cranes, building and agricultural as well as forestry machinery.
The Portfolio
Currently, the Liebherr portfolio of worm slewing drive units comprises raceway diameters of 223 to 725 mm for torques of up to 250,000 Nm and a maximum tilting moment of 1,100 kNm. Worm slewing drive units are available with one or more drives and with single or double-gear worms, which, depending on the efficiency, enable the drive to self-lock. In all versions, a brake or a position sensing unit, for example, can be optionally adapted.
Spur gear slewing drive units

Spur gear drive units - optimised for applications in non-stop operation
Spur gear driven slewing drive units are distinguished by their low heat development, even with high force transfer and at high drive speeds. The drive is provided with one or more bearing supported pinions which are either direct driven or via a gearbox and motor. Due to its high efficiency this design is particularly suited to applications with high duty cycles, such as small cranes, grabs and turning equipment.
Belt slewing drive units

Quiet operation with belt slewing drive units
Liebherr toothed belt drives are distinguished by their interlocking power transmission via timing belts and belt pulleys. Thanks to their high efficiency at high circumferential speeds, belt slewing drive units are frequently used in stationary industrial applications, robot technology as well as in the transport & conveyor technology. Here they prove themselves above all through their low-noise operation and their easy serviceability. In certain cases of use, toothed belt drives can even be completely maintenance-free.
