  • Swiss company Welti-Furrer is modernising and strengthening its fleet
  • Liebherr mobile cranes impress due to their reliability, quality and wide range of innovations

Swiss company Welti-Furrer has taken delivery of a trio of new cranes from Liebherr. The ensemble comprising an LTC 1050 3.1 compact crane, an LTM 1130-5.1 and an LTM 1160-5.2 will introduce a whole series of technical refinements into the fleet and improve its capacity. Fabian Meier, Managing Director of Heavy Goods Logistics at Welti-Furrer, is impressed by the value for money of Liebherr mobile cranes.

“The three new cranes will replace older vehicles and therefore strengthen our fleet in every respect. They will enable us to meet all our customers’ requirements“, said Fabian Meier, Managing Director of Heavy Goods Logistics and continued: “Liebherr supplies high quality machines at a fair price. Furthermore, its excellent service quality and reliability are very important to us.”

The two mobile cranes, with lifting capacities of 130 tonnes and 160 tonnes, will replace two 100 tonne machines, which are now starting to show their age. Fabian Meier explained: “The LTM 1130-5.1 and the LTM 1160-5.2 are very solid cranes in this size class. One of the main points in their favour is their variable supporting base. VarioBase® is still in front in the crane market.” Welti-Furrer has also invested in another extremely modern machine in the form of the LTC 1050-3.1. “The compact design of the LTC 1050-3.1 is perfect for jobs on constricted sites. We have also ordered the telescoping crane cab and RemoteDrive for our new 50 tonner. That is a real highlight, particularly for jobs inside buildings”, said Fabian Meier. The RemoteDrive function is an innovation developed by Liebherr engineers. In addition to the remote control of all crane functions on the superstructure, the LTC 1050-3.1 is the first crane ever whose chassis can also be controlled remotely. The crane driver can position himself directly next to the crane in constricted areas and manoeuvre it safely. Welti-Furrer ordered its cranes with a logical equipment package, which will enable them to complete customer orders without delay. The package includes a double folding jib, a runner and a second hoist unit.
