The new Operator Assistance Systems in the Generation 8 crawler dozers include three levels of driver support: Free Grade for active blade stabilisation during fine grading; Definition Grade for automatic blade positioning when creating simple 2D surfaces, 3D Grade from Topcon as optional GNSS machine control for modelling complex terrain forms. In addition, the option is available to order factory installed ready-kits, which allow a range of machine control systems from Trimble and Leica to be retrofitted in the field.
The advanced Liebherr driver’s cabin, with hydro-elastic bearing mounts, provides effective sound absorption and the lowest levels of acoustic noise.
Low noise emissions are further guaranteed by the combination of the low speed of the Liebherr diesel engine, the demand-controlled hydrostatic fan and the standard drive.
Modelling of simple 2D surfaces can now be performed in no time at all. But, as a driver of a Generation 8 dozer, you are also always ready to tackle complex construction jobs. With the benefit of location sharing, our LiDAT fleet management and configuration with the integrated 3D technology, you will always be in big demand on the construction site. The standard Liebherr Free Grade provides you with active blade stabilisation when grading surfaces, ramps and em-bankments with longitudinal and transverse slopes. Together with the two other assistance modes, Definition Grade and 3D Grade (optional), this system will help you, as an experienced operator, to increase productivity and save time. In addition, you can keep your eye on the job in hand and avoid dangerous driving situations.
Within level 2 of the new Liebherr Operator Assistance Systems, Definition Grade allows you to model a 2D surface without a rotating laser. All you need is a reference point from your site surveyor.
With the blade automatically lowering to the reference meas-urement, the creation of a precise 2D surface is child's play - even over large distances and in different pushing directions. All without the need for a laser or complex machine controls with satellite connection. And at the same time, Liebherr tech-nology now enables grading speeds that previously could not be achieved.
Topcon's optional roof-mounted 3D solution is already fitted and calibrated ex-works; so you can get started right away. The fully automatic machine control positions the 6-way blade of your dozer exactly in all three dimensions.
Pre-installed kits are available, as an option, for setting up the latest 2D and 3D machine controls from the manufacturers Trimble and Leica on your Liebherr crawler dozer. The Ready Kits give you option to upgrade your crawler dozer at any time in the future.
Crawler dozers have been an integral part of the Liebherr construction machinery range for more than 40 years. The hydrostatic drive was taken as a fundamental design concept from the very start. This technology has specific advantages, including high efficiency as well as comfortable, sure-footed and safe operation. The advanced crawler dozers are developed and produced by Liebherr-Werk Telfs GmbH in Austria.
This masterpiece was built at our main factory in Kirchdorf an der Iller. A further development is illustrated in an original engineering design drawing preserved from 1956.
Dozers with stepless hydrostatic drive were completely unknown at the time. The product range covered the size range from PR 731 to PR 751.
The final breakthrough came with the public launch of Generation 4. Right from the start, our customers were impressed by the excellent efficiency and reliability. The size range was extended to the PR 764, which at that time was the largest hydrostatic dozer in the world.
Liebherr displayed the newly developed PR 736 at Bauma 2013. The focus in development of the Generation 6 crawler dozers was on increased efficiency, lower fuel consumption and reduced CO2 emissions. The new Generation 6 models incorporated a newly developed, electronic drive control with an integrated Eco function and active dynamic power adjustment.
With the introduction of the world’s first hydrostatic drive crawler dozer in the 70 tonne class, our dozers also became established in the mining sector. New standards were set, not just in this segment, but also in particular for fuel economy and driver comfort.
For the development of the new Generation 8 crawler dozers, we scrutinised the entire construction site process with our customers and placed the driver at the centre. The results are seen in such innovations as the Liebherr Operator Assistance Systems, the Liebherr Silent Design and the new driver’s cabin with the 9” touch display.
