A new era begins
At the christening event in New Orleans, Liebherr and Associated Terminals proudly unveiled two all-electric CBG 500 E cranes that are setting a new standard for river logistics on the Mississippi. The CBG 500 E models offer up to 90 tons of grab capacity and are designed for demanding inland waterway operations, showcasing Liebherr’s engineering strength.
Paired with smart, hybrid ready barge systems, the cranes reflect Liebherr’s forward looking approach to efficient and sustainable cargo handling. The lively ceremony highlighted just how much industry partners value Liebherr’s vision for the future.

A new chapter for offshore lifting
Liebherr has secured a major agreement with Eunsung O&C in South Korea for a delivery of a BOS 45000 board offshore crane. It will support future offshore wind turbine installation as well as ongoing operational work. The crane offers a maximum boom length of 117 metres and will be installed in the jack up barge VEGA, which is planned to enter service in 2029. Eunsung O&C, known for its expertise in demanding offshore and onshore projects, selected the BOS 45000 to strengthen its position in the rapidly developing Asian offshore wind market.

Groundbreaking ceremony: New factory building for the Liebherr plant in Rostock, Germany
On 4 February 2026, the official ground-breaking ceremony for the new maintenance building of Liebherr-Rostock GmbH took place. The new Workshop 5 will be a state-of-the-art, hybrid building that will be available to both commercial and salaried employees. With an investment of approximately €22 million, Liebherr is underlining its clear commitment to its location in Rostock's overseas port.

Liebherr mobile harbour cranes further expand their leading market position in 2025
In 2025, Liebherr mobile harbour cranes secured a commanding majority of global new orders, culminating in a record market share.
Terminal operators continued to favour proven MHC solutions as they broadened cargo profiles without extending fixed infrastructure, with heavy‑lift models at the core of this trend. Electric drive configurations advanced further, delivering measurable local emission reductions while retaining full performance. Portal slewing cranes complemented bulk operations where berth efficiency and steady cycle times were decisive, shaping a strong order book moving into 2026.
