Liebherr at Conexpo: Construction stories from the USA

Liebherr is once again represented at Conexpo, the largest construction exhibition in North America. The exhibition provides the perfect stage to highlight what drives us every day: innovative technology, strong partnerships, and fascinating construction projects around the world. The United States in particular stand out with their diversity and scale of projects.

The USA is home to numerous outstanding projects in which Liebherr solutions play a key role. From scientific research and iconic architecture to world‑class entertainment and international sporting venues, the range could hardly be broader. In our new video, we present four impressive construction sites that represent this diversity.

Reaching for the stars: Next Generation Very Large Array

One of the most extraordinary projects currently under construction is the Next Generation Very Large Array (ngVLA). This future radio astronomy facility will become one of the most powerful observatories in the world and marks a major step forward in exploring the universe. The project brings together cutting‑edge technology, precision engineering, and scientific ambition.

The antennas of the ngVLA must be positioned with extreme accuracy to capture signals from deep space. This places the highest demands on all components involved. Precision, reliability, and durability are essential – characteristics that are indispensable for a project operating at the limits of what is technically possible. It is a construction site where engineering expertise quite literally meets the stars.

An icon takes shape: Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Hollywood, Florida

A completely different but equally striking project can be found in Hollywood, Florida. The expansion of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino resulted in a globally recognizable landmark: the guitar‑shaped hotel tower. Creating this iconic structure required sophisticated steel construction and carefully coordinated lifting operations.

Despite limited space on site, the construction progressed efficiently and precisely. The distinctive silhouette now towers above the surrounding complex and has become a defining feature of the region. The project demonstrates how complex design concepts can be successfully translated into reality on a challenging construction site.

Entertainment on a grand scale: Resorts World Las Vegas

Few cities stand for spectacular construction projects like Las Vegas – and Resorts World Las Vegas is a prime example. As one of the most ambitious resort developments on the famous Strip, the project combines hotel, casino, and entertainment facilities on an impressive scale.

Building at great heights and within a dense urban environment required powerful equipment and well‑coordinated processes. Multiple tower cranes were used to keep construction moving efficiently despite tight space conditions. Resorts World shows how modern construction technology supports large‑scale projects where performance, speed, and precision are critical.

A world‑class sports venue: Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York City

The Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City is known worldwide as the main venue of the US Open and the largest tennis stadium in the world. Construction and renovation work at this iconic site takes place in the heart of a major metropolis and under strict logistical constraints.

Working in such an environment means dealing with limited space, complex scheduling, and high expectations for safety and reliability. The stadium stands as a symbol of how major sports infrastructure projects can come to life even under demanding urban conditions.

These four construction sites are just a small selection of the many exciting projects Liebherr was involved in across the United States. They highlight the breadth of applications, the technical challenges, and the close cooperation required to bring ambitious visions to life.
