Heavy duty cranes from Liebherr
Perfect solutions for every heavy duty hoist.

Heavy loads – perfect cranes

Heavy loads have to be hoisted all over the world. Often these loads weigh several hundreds or even thousands of tonnes. Every load is different, it is rare that these hoists can be described as standard operations. That means that having the right crane and the right hoisting concept is essential for every load and every job. This is where our full range of heavy duty cranes comes into its own – together with our services such as wind load calculations or static calculations for individual hoists. Our experienced fitters can support you on site during the erection, job and dismantling. And every hoist must be planned perfectly in advance – our planning and simulation software will help you to find the right crane, the right crane configuration and the best erection site in advance.

Different versions of heavy duty cranes – mobile versions and stationary cranes

Stationary heavy duty cranes

The classic tower crane can be seen on many construction sites. It is able to erect high-rise buildings on its own and can also load and unload a truck with building materials when required. This category also contains portal cranes, ship cranes, port cranes and offshore cranes.

Mobile heavy duty cranes

Cranes that frequently change their job site are optimised for transport and mobility. In addition to crawler cranes, which are transported to the job site in single units, there are mobile cranes that travel on their own axles and are approved for road travel - all-terrain cranes. There are also mobile cranes that are only used in certain industries, such as mobile harbour cranes, which are designed for fast and efficient load handling.

Quickly on site, ready immediately

Our all-terrain cranes can hoist loads weighing up to 1200 tonnes. Their all-terrain chassis enable these mobile cranes to travel quickly and safely both on roads and off-road. They have up to nine axles and telescopic booms up to 100 metres in length which can be extended with various jib attachments. There are thousands of Liebherr telescopic mobile cranes, or LTMs for short, in use all over the world.

Heavy load, mobile crane

We supply crawler cranes with lifting capacities of up to 3000 tonnes. The crane remains completely mobile, in other words it can be dismantled and transported at any time. The design of all our crawler cranes has been enhanced for this type of transport. In other words, the complete crane can be erected and dismantled as easily as possible. And can be relocated using as few transport vehicles as possible. Our engineers keep a close eye on the transport dimensions and weights of every single component, because the economy of a crane starts with how easy it is to transport.

Lots of hoists, the same location

Our HC series includes tower cranes which are designed for very high hook heights and very large radii and which can also manage enormous lifting capacities.

HC cranes can position very heavy load accurately and extremely sensitively. The drive units and control systems developed in-house ensure that the various drive units are perfectly coordinated.

These cranes are often used for very long periods of time, for example for handling loads at mines or shipyards.

Offshore cranes

Heavy constructions and their installation are playing an ever increasing role in the offshore industry. Massive wind turbines now reach heights of around 150 metres and have gross weights of up to 1000 tonnes per turbine. The focus of installation at sea is therefore on hoisting loads of various weights to a range of different heights. Liebherr has developed its “Crane Around the Leg” (CAL) product series to meet the specific requirements in the heavy load sector.

Mobile dock crane

Hoisting very heavy presents continuous challenges to port operators. The ongoing expansion of Liebherr’s product portfolio tracks the increase in tonnages which have to be handled at ports around the world.

With a maximum lifting capacity of 308 tonnes, the Liebherr LHM 800 mobile dock crane is the most powerful model in the range. When acting in tandem, two of these cranes equipped with the Liebherr Sycratronic Assistance System can hoist double the load, in other words 616 tonnes.

Ship crane – CBB 4700

When handling goods at ports, it is particularly important to keep berthing times as short as possible to minimise cost. In addition to reliable, efficient operation, the design of Liebherr’s ship cranes is tailored to ensure that they are particularly safe to operate. Loading heavy goods onto appropriate vessels places special demands on the equipment used and requires it to deliver maximum precision and safety.

Liebherr has decades of experience in designing and building ship and deck cranes. Components and assistance programs developed in-house, such as the Sycratronic system, enables multiple cranes to be controlled simultaneously. This enables the full potential of cranes to be used and ensures additional safety.

Heavy duty handling at Rostock, Germany – TCC 78000

The TCC 78000 heavy duty portal claim has a maximum lifting capacity of 1600 tonnes and has elevated Rostock’s sea port to a whole new level. Liebherr provides external contractors with the Travelling Cargo Crane TCC 78000 for loading all types of large, heavy goods at the Port of Rostock.

With innovative hoisting equipment, excellent logistical conditions and trained personnel, Liebherr makes it possible to complete heavy load projects efficiently and safely.
