Shape the architecture that connects digital operations across our global organisation. The Digital Operations Platform (DOP) will connect processes, data and decisions across a heterogeneous landscape of ERP, PLM, MES, logistics and other operational systems. As future-proof platform, the DOP provides reusable capabilities for integration, orchestration, governed data, semantic interoperability, user experience and AI while systems of record remain responsible for transactions and execution.

As DOP Lead Architect (m/f/x), you own and continuously evolve the end-to-end DOP architecture. You translate strategic ambition and emerging business needs into platform boundaries, reusable capabilities and pragmatic architectural decisions. You ensure in collaboration with other lead roles that new use cases strengthen a coherent, scalable and operable platform.

Creating passion: your responsibilities

• Own and evolve the end-to-end DOP architecture including the conceptual, logical and transition architecture across experience, orchestration, data and intelligence, semantics, integration and platform runtime
• Act as the program’s design authority. Lead cross-cutting architecture decisions, make tradeoffs and risks transparent, assure solution designs and govern exceptions within the
  enterprise architecture framework
• Shape the platform scope and boundaries. Evaluate new use cases for platform fit and determine which capabilities belong to DOP, business domains or systems of record, balancing reuse and harmonisation with domain autonomy and avoiding unnecessary centralisation. Build for reuse through delivery. Guide the initial use cases and turn proven processes, semantic services, integration patterns and experience components into reusable DOP capabilities that accelerate subsequent use cases
• Enable semantic interoperability. Work with domain, data and integration architects to establish consistent semantics across APIs, events, data products and AI services
• Lead product-neutral decisions. Evaluate technologies against capability fit, interoperability, security, resilience, operability, lifecycle cost, sovereignty and supplier dependency
• Connect governance and engineering. Translate guardrails and non-functional requirements into practical guidance for delivery teams and ensure implementation through transition into operations
• Secure internal ownership. Guide architects and external partners while retaining decisions, knowledge, reusable assets and essential documentation inside the organization
• Lead architecture across all DOP layers. Orchestrate and align architects across the layers to ensure a coherent end-to-end platform architecture

Your organisational context

Your permanent organisational home will be Enterprise Architecture Management, with an explicit delivery mandate into the cross-functional DOP programme. You will work closely with the DOP Product / Platform Lead, who owns product direction, priorities and value, and the Platform Engineering Lead, who owns platform build and operations. You will align the contributions of integration, semantic, AI, security and domain architects. Your accountability is the coherence of the overall DOP architecture and its technology decisions. Business domains retain ownership of their processes, specialised capabilities and business meaning; specialist architects retain accountability for their respective architectural areas.

Contributing your strengths: your qualifications

• Substantial experience in enterprise, solution and platform architecture, including architectural leadership in complex transformation programs
• Proven ability to translate business capabilities and end-to-end processes into target architectures, transition roadmaps and deliverable increments
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, APIs, event-driven integration, cross-system orchestration and heterogeneous enterprise landscapes
• Sound understanding of platform and domain boundaries, federated data ownership, semantic contracts and compatibility across APIs, events and data products
• Experience with cloud or hybrid architectures, platform engineering, DevSecOps, resilience, observability and operational readiness
• Ability to lead technology evaluations and communicate architectural options, risks and decisions effectively to business leaders, architects and engineering teams
• Strong systems thinking, pragmatic architectural judgement and the ability to align stakeholders without direct authority and make transparent decisions without unnecessary complexity
• Experience in manufacturing or international, multi-site industrial environments, with familiarity with ERP, PLM, MES, WMS, TMS or enterprise planning, is an advantage
