Würzburger Kranverleih takes delivery of Liebherr LTM 1120-4.2 mobile crane

“Our fleet needed a powerful 4-axle crane,” explains company owner Ibrahim Haido. “The LTM 1120-4.2 offers enormous lifting capacities and is ideal for use on confined construction sites, where 5-axle mobile cranes reach their limits.” The new crane’s main areas of application will be the erection of tower cranes, steel and concrete construction, and the installation of transformer stations. These are becoming increasingly heavy, and construction sites are often very cramped.

Haido is delighted that Liebherr has also upgraded the 120-tonne crane to the new LICCON3 crane control system. “Following the LTM 1100-5.3 and the LTM 1110-5.2, the LTM 1120-4.2 is now the third LICCON3 crane in our fleet. Our operators are delighted with the modern technology and the user-friendly controls. For example, the remote control has many advanced functions.” Würzburger Kranverleih und Bergungsdienst GmbH has acquired the three innovative mobile cranes within two years, further modernising its crane fleet whilst at the same time reducing the average age of the cranes. The family-run business, with 25 employees across several branches, operates eleven mobile cranes, the majority of which are Liebherr models, including a mobile construction crane.

LTM 1120-4.2 – “There’s nothing more on 4!”

In 2020, Liebherr set new standards in the all-terrain crane sector and launched the LTM 1120-4.1 – a 120-tonne crane that caused a stir with the slogan “There’s nothing more on 4!”. Its concept: maximum performance on four axles. This made it the most powerful 4-axle all-terrain crane ever built, shattering the boundaries of its class. It ventured into performance ranges previously reserved for the larger 5-axle models, thereby completely redefining the capabilities of a compact crane.

In early 2025, Liebherr upgraded the successful mobile crane to the modern LICCON3 control system and the new, forward-looking crane design. This is how it became the LTM 1120-4.2. It was fitted with the oil-cooled TraXon DynamicPerform start-up clutch and new driver assistance systems to improve road safety: The blind spot assistant and the manoeuvring information system minimise risks and enhance protection for the driver and those in the vicinity. Furthermore, the LTM 1120-4.2 is equipped as standard for use with RemoteDrive. This radio remote control system allows the crane to be operated from outside – an enormous advantage on confined construction sites.
