More safety on the road: Liebherr wins ESTA Award in the Safety category

Safety is one of nine categories in which the European association ESTA (European association for the abnormal road transport and mobile crane rental industry) awards prizes every year. Julian Rapp, Product Manager at Liebherr-Werk Ehingen GmbH, accepted the award: "It's great to be honoured in the safety category. Safety has always been a top priority for us in crane development. We at Liebherr care about people's lives. That's why winning this safety category is a clear signal for the industry."

Driver assistance systems

Blind Spot Information System (BSIS): Even with large mirrors, the crane operator cannot see the entire area next to the crane - there are always blind spots. In road traffic and when navigating through the surrounding infrastructure, the crane operator must also keep an eye on numerous factors. The blind spot information system is operated as standard via a so-called "camera wing" with two integrated digital cameras. If the system detects cyclists or pedestrians, it warns the crane operator visually and acoustically.

Moving Off Information System (MOIS): Children in particular are almost invisible directly in front of the cab due to their height. Despite the specially fitted mirrors, visibility is restricted, partly because the hook block is located in front of the driver's cab. Two digital cameras on the left and right of the windscreen scan the area and warn the crane driver visually and acoustically.
