The position of Autonomy Support Manager is a strategic role, responsible for the deployment and support of all matters related to truck Autonomy of the worldwide fleet. This position works closely with all LME departments and affiliated Liebherr companies to ensure product performance is maintained as well as exceptional class service and support is delivered. Responsible for developing and maintaining the complete Autonomy Support structure for the purpose of deploying, supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting OHT autonomy systems from a factory perspective. Will work closely with all departments to develop, maintain and provide accurate / detailed information of Autonomy.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the selection and retention of all Autonomy Support personnel.
  • Sets capital and expense budgets for the LME Autonomy Support activities to meet company targets.
  • Develop LME Autonomy Support personnel and Autonomy Support organization to meet the needs of customers including Regional Support activities, resource development, succession planning, tools and services that are offered, for all existing and new OHT models.
  • Develops Autonomy cost forecasts and instructs about cost allocation (Sales contracts, Customer Support Dept.) and / or invoicing of those services.
  • Primary Point of Contact for LME Autonomy Support.
  • Drafts all OHT Autonomy product related Customer Service information notifications (CSI’s)
  • Reviews and provide feedback for projects related to autonomy systems.
  • Participates in Engineering Design Reviews for Autonomy system updates or changes.
  • Must understand the Autonomy support requirements for each affiliate or customer.
  • Plans and schedules Autonomy support team resources and tasks.
  • Coordinates and aligns team activities with the expectation of affiliate and customers.
  • Participate in autonomous related software development, risk assessments and validation process.
  • Ensures software requirement management processes are defined, utilized, effective and adhered to.
  • Coordinates and reports on Autonomy support activities, including detailed instructions and drawings for field modification bulletins and technical service advisories, as requested.
  • Prepares or approves detailed, technical field reports and system performance analyses for use by reliability, engineering, manufacturing and purchasing departments as it relates to autonomy products.
  • Provides detailed analysis of field issues based on accurate data collection to support the development and resolution of Autonomy Projects.
  • Coordinate Autonomy projects with Regional Customer Support Managers, Affiliate and customers to understand any issues with the autonomy system.
  • Directly supervises joint efforts of the autonomy support team.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of Autonomy Support team.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Competencies

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Computer Science, Computer, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering with 5 years of related experience combined with 2 years mining truck, heavy equipment, construction equipment or off-road vehicle experience, preferably with autonomy field support; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. As well as, a minimum of 2 years in a managerial / supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of autonomous system technology principles including but not limited to perception, planning, vehicle control, mapping, and centralized support systems such as traffic management and fleet management.
  • Knowledge of mining truck systems and requirements.
  • Demonstrates a strong knowledge of repair and maintenance of mining or heavy equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance on autonomous systems, which includes reading and approving changes to schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of validation requirements and methods for autonomous systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals, and procedure manuals, software specifications.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use project management tools.
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 30% to customer or supplier sites.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) certification.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain driver’s license and passport.
