Liebherr produces around 2.2 million refrigerators and freezers annually and is therefore one of the market leaders in Europe. Nearly a quarter of these appliances originates from Lienz in Tirol, Austria where Liebherr-Hausgeräte Lienz GmbH develops and produces refrigerators, chest freezers, as well as combined refrigerators and freezers. In addition to refrigerators and freezers for private use, manufacture of appliances for professional use is one of the focal points of the company. They combine application-specific solutions with the highest energy efficiency and innovative product design.
Energy efficiency and environmental protection
With its extensive product program of energy-efficient refrigerators and freezers, Liebherr-Hausgeräte Lienz GmbH is making an active contribution to environmental protection. Liebherr was the first company to convert its entire range of refrigerators and freezers to the environmentally friendly refrigerants R 290 and R 600a. They are HFC/CFC-free and do not have any damaging influences on the ozone layer, nor do they contribute to the associated greenhouse effect. Additionally, highly efficient cooling components considerably reduce energy consumption of the appliances.

Liebherr professional appliances combine high cooling efficiency with an individual design.
High-quality refrigerators and freezers as well as chest freezers are manufactured at the Lienz plant. Appliances for commercial use, supermarket chest freezers, and wine cabinets are also included in the product portfolio. Liebherr-Hausgeräte Lienz GmbH is continuously revolutionizing its sector – whether in environmental protection (1993: conversion to CFC-free appliances) or in usability design (2009: SmartSteel surface for reduction of visible fingerprints). Products as innovative as they are high-performance are produced in Lienz to meet the high demands in the commercial sector.
Refrigerators and freezers
The innovative product program of refrigerators and freezers is characterized by best energy efficiency in the A++ and A+++ classes as well as through high user convenience. Liebherr uses long-life and power-saving LED illumination technology for the lighting.
Freezers and supermarket chest freezers
Chest freezers for sales promotion combine high cooling quality with an attractive and practical design. State-of-the-art refrigeration technology ensures that the chest freezers have a low energy requirement. Since 2014 supermarket chest freezers have also been in the product portfolio of Liebherr-Hausgeräte Lienz GmbH.
Laboratory appliances
In the laboratory appliances segment, safety and cooling reliability are the first priority. Refrigeration equipment for use in laboratories, medical offices, and pharmacies are equipped with state-of-the-art electronics that ensures the exact temperature is always maintained. Additionally, the appliances can be integrated into centralized temperature monitoring systems.
Wine temperature control cabinets
Wine temperature control cabinets from Lienz provide the ideal conditions for maturing wines without disturbance and storing them at their drinking temperature. In 2006 the company developed the first wine temperature control cabinet with three independent temperature zones. A model for presentation and wine by the glass is available for professional use.
