Liebherr’s first telescopic wheel loader: the L 509 Tele
The new Liebherr L 509 Tele telescopic wheel loader is a unique multifunctional machine which combines the lift height and reach of a regular telescopic loader with the productive material handling capacity of a classic wheel loader: The benefits of two machine types in a single product. Developed on the basis of the Speeder L 509 stereoloader this new telescopic wheel loader retains the proven stereo steering and can reach a top speed of 38 km/h as standard thanks to the powerful hydrostatic travel drive. It also complies with the emission stage V/ Tier 4f specifications.
Stereoloaders are extremely versatile
The manoeuvrable Stereoloaders really come into their own when larger machines reach their limits. Whether it’s horticulture and landscaping, works in inner-city areas, deployment as a snow plough or being a reliable partner on the most diverse construction sites, Stereoloaders are the perfect solution for all applications.
Although the L 507, L 509 and L 514 Stereoloaders are primarily for tasks in urban areas, they are also suitable for road construction and for a varied range of other applications. The largest Stereoloader, the L 518 Stereo, is also impressive when used for industrial applications, such as recycling. By employing the hydraulic quick hitch, the operator can change numerous tools as required, thereby increasing the versatility of the Stereoloaders in everyday work situations.
Manoeuvrable power package
The name of this wheel loader model range relates to its unique Stereo steering, which combines the advantages of various steering systems. The Stereo steering is a perfectly balanced combination of articulated steering and a steered wheel axle. This Stereo steering enables the Stereoloaders to achieve a turning circle that is up to 20 per cent smaller (when measured over the outer edge of the equipment) than other wheel loaders of this size.
Stereoloaders are ideal for applications in confined spaces. The Stereoloaders can handle tight curves with small radii and challenging steering manoeuvres with ease. The Stereo steering enables a reduction in the articulation angle to just 30 degrees and therefore particularly high payloads can be transported with a low operating weight. This also means maximum stability and safety on all types of terrain.
New cab design for increased comfort
The newly designed operator's cab provides outstanding visibility on all sides thanks to the larger window surfaces. The angled front windscreen has proved itself to be extremely practical in everyday operations. It enables the machine operator to have an optimal view of the raised equipment. Additional carefully considered details, such as the vent window on the right-hand side that can be opened by 180 degrees by the wheel loader’s operator, improve comfort levels.
With wheel loaders of this size, there are typically different machine operators working on the construction site. During the development of the Stereoloaders, Liebherr ensured that they could be operated easily and intuitively. Clearly and ergonomically arranged operating elements, together with the Liebherr control lever integrated into the driver's seat, enable easy operation. The convenient cab design allows the operator to work with high levels of concentration without fatigue, which increases safety and productivity.
Tried and tested drive concept
With the tried and tested powerful hydrostatic driveline, the Stereoloaders satisfy demanding requirements for the most diverse range of applications. Stereoloaders accelerate smoothly, without interruption to the traction power and without discernible gear changing. The damped oscillating centre pivot also contributes to comfortable and safe handling: it compensates for uneven ground features and provides for excellent overall and tipping stability, as well as maximum driving comfort, even when negotiating obstacles.
Higher Ground Speed
For use over longer distances, Liebherr also offers all four Stereoloader models in a ‘Speeder’ version. The L 507 Speeder and L 509 Speeder both achieve a top speed of 38 km/h. The two larger models, the L 514 Speeder and L 518 Speeder, accelerate up to 40 km/h. This means that operators can save time and efficiently move their Stereoloader from one job to the next.
Optimised lift arm
The Z-bar linkage works at maximum power, regardless of the task at hand, because it provides high breakout forces in the lower lift arm area. At the same time, it boasts strong holding forces in the upper lift arms, thereby enabling large attachments to be fitted for transporting heavy loads. In fork operation, the Z-bar linkage provides optimised load guidance, guaranteeing particularly safe, smooth and precise operation.
Robust and optimally coordinated components
Stereoloaders are robust and reliable machines, which is why they are used for the most diverse range of tasks. Regardless of what operation the Stereoloaders are performing, the powerful basic design, high quality steel components and tried and tested hydraulics ensure reliable use and the long life of these wheel loaders. Thanks to compact design and the unique mounting position of the components, the Stereoloaders offer exceptional accessibility for maintenance.
Reliable cooling system
The positioning of the cooling package directly behind the operator's cab reduces contamination of the cooling system. With Stereoloaders, the air is drawn into the system laterally behind the operator's cab. In the process, air passes through the entire engine compartment crossways on L 507 Stereo and L 509 Stereo models and diagonally on L 514 Stereo and L 518 Stereo variants. This ensures optimal heat dissipation from the engine and provides consistent and uniform cooling performance. Cooling is on demand, fuel saving and noise reducing.
Powerful Z-bar linkage
The Z-bar linkage provides maximum power, regardless of the task.
The cab’s generous glass surfaces provide exceptional all-round visibility, including the attachment and working area.
