Barrier-Free Boarding 无障碍上下车
The new light rail vehicles manufactured by CRRC Sifang for the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) will offer barrier free boarding and exiting, as they will be fitted with an intelligent hydraulic level control system from Liebherr.

Recently, the commissioning of the CTA 7000 trains have started and the Liebherr team is working closely together with its customer CRRC Sifang, providing the train manufacturer with the best possible on-site service in order to enable a successful introduction of the new CTA 7000 fleet in Chicago, Illinois (USA).

How it works 操作原理
Liebherr’s hydraulic level control system for CTA’s modernized 7000 series urban rail vehicles is able to adjust the level of the vehicle floor to exactly that of the platform. No easy task for the system, considering that a full vehicle can carry a total weight of up to 36 tonnes on the tracks. In addition, the platform heights differ from station to station. The vehicle load can also have a spreading width of up to ten tons. This loading condition has the effect of compressing the vehicle springs - designed as steel compression springs - more or less, i.e. the carriage is higher or lower.

In order to be able to adjust precisely the floor height to that of the platform, not only it is important to know the height position of the vehicle, but also it is important to determine the different heights of the platforms. For this purpose, position sensors are installed on the vehicle. When the carriage arrives at the train station, the sensors detect the platform height. Based on this height measurement, Liebherr’s level control system activates four hydraulic actuators per carriage, each of which pulls six tons of steel springs together between the carriage body and chassis to lower the vehicle until the exit edge exactly matches the height of the platform.
为了能够精确地根据站台的高度调整地板高度,不仅需要知道车辆的高度位置,还需要确定站台的不同高度。为此,车辆上安装了位置传感器。当车厢到达列车站时,传感器会检测站台的高度。基于这种高度测量,利勃海尔的液压控制系统激活了每节车厢的四个液压致动器,每个致动器将六吨重的钢弹簧拉到车身和底盘之间,使车辆下降,直到车辆出口边缘与站台高度完全匹配。
After all passengers have got on or off barrier-free and thus comfortably, the doors then close and the hydraulic cylinders release the steel springs. The springs move the carriage back to its starting position and the train can leave the station.
