High quality engines.

The entire drive train on a Liebherr mobile crane is designed for perfect function. The powerful Liebherr turbo diesel engines enable the cranes to be driven at good speeds.

Our mobile cranes are suitable for all markets and are supplied in a configuration to suit the emissions regulations in the relevant country. This means that they comply with (EU) 2016/1628, EPA/CARB or ECE-R.96.

Innovative emissions treatment systems ensure minimal emissions whilst complying with current emission regulations.

Complex, but fully thought out:

Electronic engine management.

The modern Liebherr engine management system combines the complex control of the engine and all the systems involved. This ensures better performance and lower particulate emissions. All these are positives which make significant differences during operation.

Economical gearboxes.

The automated manual gearboxes are built by ZF and deliver both great economy and a high level of convenience.

  • Reduced fuel consumption due to the high number of gears and high efficiency of the dry clutch.
  • The two-stage distributor gear delivers top manoeuvrability and very low crawling speeds on our 3 to 5-axle cranes.
  • The ZF gearbox with an integral torque converter is used on cranes with more than 5 axles.
  • Our two-axle mobile cranes and LTC cranes feature the ZF 6WG powershift gearbox, which stands out due to its compact design and integral torque converter.
  • We ensure that all our cranes have good off-road properties by means of a wide range of driven axles.

Stop quickly: Reliable braking systems

We attach a great deal of value to delivering safe, low maintenance braking systems. The braking systems we use feature very fast activation, smooth braking and low running costs.

  • Excellent braking performance and good control are the main features of our pneumatic disc brakes.
  • The ABS anti-blocking system prevents the wheels locking during an emergency braking manoeuvre, therefore enhancing driving safety.
  • The Telma eddy current brake for wear-free braking to a standstill is available as an option, but is standard on mobile cranes with eight axles.

No moving backwards anymore:

Hillstart-Aid

Hillstart Aid makes starting on gradients easier. Move off safely and easily without rolling backwards.

Like driving on a mattress:

Comfortable suspension.

Niveaumatik hydro-pneumatic axle suspension ensures the crane delivers a comfortable ride. Fixed programs are used to select driving modes.

The maintenance-free suspension cylinders deliver comfort as well as good lateral stability for cornering. Other benefits of our suspension systems include their large design to deal with high axle loads.
