NoFrost was developed to give you more time for the things that really matter. The system helps prevent icing over the entire freezer compartment* and no more defrosting of your freezer is required.

Instead, you get guaranteed long-term freshness plus increased efficiency thanks to reduced energy consumption.

How does the NoFrost technology work?

NoFrost freezes your frozen goods using cooled circulating air. At the same time, it dissipates humidity. The evaporator, on which humidity usually accumulates, is installed in a compact closed-off compartment at the top of the appliance on our NoFrost models. A fan then distributes the cold air equally throughout the freezer compartment. This reliably freezes your food, keeping it frost-free.

Regardless of whether we’re talking about NoFrost technology or SuperFrost function – low energy consumption is something we’ve been passionate about for generations. The FrostSafe system is also inspired by this principle. Transparent, extra tall, removable, and closed on all sides: These drawers let barely any cold escape and make a notable contribution to the energy efficiency of our NoFrost appliances.

SuperFrost function

The SuperFrost function freezes your food especially quickly. A freezer with SuperFrost rapidly lowers the temperature to its lowest setting for maximum cooling power. This preserves precious vitamins and keeps the food from your big shopping trip fresh and frost-free for a long time. The SuperFrost system returns to normal mode as soon as the freezing process is completed and after 65 hours at the latest.

No, because NoFrost is a freezing technology. However, our range of NoFrost freezers includes a wide variety of fully integrated bottom-freezer refrigerators and freestanding bottom-freezer refrigerators featuring NoFrost technology.

The SuperFrost function rapidly lowers the temperature in the freezer compartment to the lowest setting (-32°C). This creates cold reserves that ensure vitamin-preserving freezing. A manual deactivation option allows you to determine how long SuperFrost remains active. Alternatively, the function will switch back to normal operation after a maximum of 65 hours. This makes a significant contribution towards saving energy, even if you forget to manually deactivate the function.

The SmartFrost technology uses high-quality insulation to greatly reduce the build-up of frost and make it harder for ice to form in the interior of the appliance. The NoFrost technology, by contrast, prevents frost or ice forming on your frozen goods and keeps the contents frost-free, meaning that the days of defrosting your freezer are over.

Yes, we have bottom-freezer refrigerators available that feature both NoFrost and BioFresh or BioFresh Professional HydroBreeze. Appliances with this freshness technology have a separate compartment for each group of products. These create the ideal climate for each type of food. From meat that is full of flavor to the finest seafood delicacies or salad fresh from the market – BioFresh technology keeps food fresh and frost-free for longer.

Absolutely. The energy that is lost in older, iced-up freezers is used to power the fan in an appliance featuring NoFrost. This in turn circulates the cold air throughout the freezer compartment. The convenience of no longer having to defrost the freezer also has a positive effect on its energy efficiency. The freezer can do less cooling as a result and therefore uses less power. Where there is no ice, no energy is lost. Our NoFrost freestanding bottom-freezer refrigerators in energy efficiency class A are designed to operate in a particularly resource-efficient manner without compromising on performance.

Yes, a small amount of frost or ice buildup in the freezer compartment is normal and can occur due to various factors, such as ambient humidity or frequent door openings.
