Liebherr crawler cranes are certified for lifting work on barges. Their use as floating cranes opens up a multitude of new possibilities. Especially in cities were space is tight, the river can be used as an alternative working platform.

Crawler cranes carry out lifting work on floating platforms. Construction materials that are transported on the river reduce road transport and so relieve traffic in the inner city.

Port solutions

Liebherr crawler cranes are also used in ports. They are in demand above all for their versatility as handling equipment. This is particularly evident in the heavy lift, general and project cargo business.

Heavy lifts in ports

Quite a common sight in ports: our LR crawler cranes, especially when it comes to heavy lifting tasks such as handling of oil platforms parts or wind turbine elements for offshore wind farms. All the really heavy parts that common harbour cranes can no longer handle require special cranes - the LR crawler cranes series.

Back-up support

Container handling is not the main area of application, but if there is need or a cargo handling crane has broken down, the crawler crane can certainly step into the breach. Equipping the crawler crane with the appropriate lifting equipment requires a minimum amount of time.
