Liebherr-Aerospace has been selected to supply the load-sensing drive strut for the A350-1000 aircraft, thus increasing its scope of delivery for Airbus’ latest wide body program.
Following the contracts for the slat actuation system, the nose landing gear, the flap active differential gearbox and the moving damper, Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg GmbH, Lindenberg (Germany), has also won the contract to deliver the load-sensing drive strut for the A350-1000. This electro-mechanical component is installed four times in each aircraft. The load-sensing drive struts signal to the high-lift controller if there are unacceptably high loads between the actuation system and the flaps, which may occur in case of certain faults. The controller then causes the flap system to enter the so-called fail-safe mode by turning it off.
The new contract for the A350-1000 further strengthens the relationship Airbus and Liebherr have built for decades through their collaboration in all Airbus programs, and in particular in the A350 XWB family.
