With the LTM 1090-4.2, INZAG is consistently focusing on standardisation within its crane fleet. The new 90-tonne crane is already the second of this type for the internationally active construction company. “Unlike crane hire companies, our aim is not to have the largest possible fleet with many different crane types, but rather a reliable all-rounder that is versatile and capable of handling both small and large lifts,” says Lorenz Weber, Procurement Director at INZAG.
In addition to performance, safety and efficiency aspects were decisive factors. The 4-axle crane combines high mobility with economical operation. Thanks to variable axle loads, the crane can be easily transported worldwide and deployed flexibly both on public roads and on the construction site. Features such as ECOdrive and ECOmode also help to reduce fuel consumption and noise emissions – a benefit for both operators and the environment.
First deployment in Angola requires flexibility
“With this new addition to our fleet, we are preparing for the start of a 146-kilometre road construction project in Angola,” explains Leandro Fernandez, Managing Director at INZAG. The project involves the rehabilitation of the EN 140/295 national road between the municipalities of Caiundo and Savate. The site is located in a remote region in the south of the country, where local crane hire companies are not a viable option.
“For this project, we needed a multifunctional crane that can be mobilised quickly, is flexible on site and can also be replaced during the operation – should that become necessary,” reports Weber. For the deployment in Angola, the high lifting capacities and the large working radius were decisive – characteristics that are precisely tailored to the requirements of the construction site.
“We will be using the new Liebherr crane primarily during the mobilisation phase, including for setting up camps and facilities, as well as for unloading and logistics tasks. It will also support operations at bitumen and precast plants, as well as the installation of box culverts,” explains Fernandez.

INZAG Germany GmbH focuses on the implementation of large-scale construction projects in sub-Saharan Africa.
