El transporte de una excavadora hidráulica de minería R 996 de Liebherr entre dos ubicaciones de explotación llegó a ser el transporte más gigantesco jamás realizado en la historia de Australia. Seis tractores fueron necesarios para remolcar y empujar esta máquina de 675 toneladas de la mina Christmas Creek a la mina Solomon – ambas son propiedad de Fortescue Metals Group (FMG). Fortescue contrató para este proyecto a Mammoet Australia e hicieron falta nada menos que 20 empleados de Mammoet para cargar la máquina en 24 plataformas de dos ejes de Goldhofer (384 ruedas) y llevarla a su nueva ubicación. Con una velocidad de 4 km/h y un tiempo de viaje diario de 12 horas se tardó un total de seis días para transportar la R 996 B los 230 km hasta la mina Solomon. La excavadora de minería se pondrá en marcha ahora, junta a trece máquinas para minería adicionales de Liebherr, en la mina Solomon.

Darma Henwa expands fleet with 10 new Liebherr machines
In less than a year, Liebherr Indonesia has delivered a fleet of 10 machines to Darma Henwa – four R 9200 excavators and six PR 776 dozers, half of which are the Generation 8 model. These machines are currently working across the Bengalon and Kintap mines in Kalimantan.
