Liebherr-Transportation Systems GmbH & Co KG was selected by Bombardier Transportation, Hennigsdorf (Germany) to equip 21 x 6-car commuter trains of type TALENT 3 for the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) with air conditioning systems for driver's cabs and passenger compartments.

The air conditioning systems are an upgrade from the existing systems and fulfill the requirements of the current norm standards with special regard to fire protection and TSI regulations. The increase in cooling performance and a two-stage cooling circuit ensure the longevity and reliability of the systems and will provide optimal comfort for the passengers.

The first delivery includes air conditioning systems for 21 x 6-car trains. Liebherr-Transportation Systems will equip a total of 300 TALENT 3 cars with its units for local and regional transport in Austria. A set of equipment for a train includes two driver’s cab air conditioning units and six for the passenger compartments as well as the necessary duct systems and various accessories. The air conditioning systems are expected to be delivered between August 2017 and December 2019. The first TALENT 3 trains are planned to be in operation by mid 2019 in Vorarlberg. They will mainly be used in Vorarlberg, although the trains' travel routes may also cross the borders into Germany and Switzerland.
