The control system of the LR range, which was developed by Liebherr, focuses on precision, safety and productivity.

The crane management system is the centrepiece for precise and reliable crane operation. It is a unique one-system-solution which unites the best technologies available for reliable crane control. Various analysis tools provide relevant information on the operation.

The crane control system is an integrated solution, an all-in-one approach for precise, safe and fast cargo handling. Fields of action:

Assistance systems

Crane operation can be demanding during lifting jobs. The newest generation of crawler cranes offers many innovative assistance systems, which both increase operational safety as well as simplify handling.

The large number of assistance systems perform the calculations in the background. The crane operator is informed of all system status at all times.

The assistance system indicates the approach to the tipping lines and automatically stops operation before the operator unintentionally enters an unsafe zone. It assists the operator in leaving the danger zone without having to activate the safety bypass switch.

The Ground Pressure Visualization calculates the current ground pressure of the machine in real time and compares it with the specified safety limits of the relevant position.

The ground pressure is displayed in the operator's cab and the operator is permanently aware of whether the machine is situated in, or is approaching, a critical area.

The assistance system Vertical Line Finder allows the operator to detect and prevent side and front pull. The operator's monitor always shows whether the rope is in vertical position.

By pressing a button on the joystick. The load is moved horizontally at a constant height. During luffing the load always moves along the horizontal load path.

Short suspension lengths save time when moving loads to their intended position. Coordination is also simplified for multi-crane lifting.

Operating modes

The latest drive and control systems from Liebherr offer a variety of optional functions. For different deployment scenarios, Liebherr has developed a series of intelligent control options.

Whether barge or grab operation, whether driving with a load or lifting people, the load curves are adjusted at the push of a button.

When operating on floating platforms, the lifting capacities are automatically adjusted depending on the inclination of the barge.

The newest generation of crawler cranes are approved for personnel lifting. This mode is selected using a separate key switch.

Thanks to the EC type approval certificate of the Liebherr crane for the occasional lifting of persons, local approval from an acceptance authority is no longer required by the crane operator.

The statutory emergency generator and emergency controls required for personnel lifting are offered by Liebherr as a simple Plug-and-Play solution. In case of emergencies, the crane availability can be restored within a few minutes.
