At the beginning of the year, Liebherr-Transportation Systems GmbH & Co KG, Korneuburg (Austria), received an order from Deutsche Bahn Fahrzeuginstandhaltung GmbH, Nuremberg (Germany), covering the supply of perforated ceilings as well as exhaust and warm air ducts for ICE 3.1 high-speed trains.
The second-class, non-subdivided cars in Germany's fastest train will now be sustainably converted. Compartments will be removed from 53 cars, and the new perforated ceilings will be inserted in the ceiling lining. In addition, the warm air ducts in the corresponding cars were adapted. The Liebherr exhaust air ducts will be installed in 66 bistro cars.
With these conversion and modernization measures as part of Deutsche Bahn’s Redesign Project, Liebherr-Transportation Systems is making its contribution to the optimum and economic use of the vehicle stocks of the ICE 3 fleet throughout the entire life cycle.
