Liebherr-Aerospace showcased its impressive solutions for various kinds of helicopters on January 30, 2024, at the Airbus Helicopters TechDay.

"We are grateful and delighted that we were asked to take part in Airbus Helicopters’ TechDay this year," said Stefan Schaberger, Director Strategy at Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg GmbH. "The event provided the unique opportunity to present our products and solutions to a wide range of Airbus Helicopters employees directly on site in Donauwoerth. Events like this allow us to further strengthen the partnership with our customers."

Among other exhibits like main rotor actuators for the Airbus Helicopters H160 and H145, the company presented its all-new small electro-mechanical actuators (small EMA). The modular and scalable product concept is specifically defined for small installation envelopes and suitable for various applications. For example flight controls of vertical take-off and landing vehicles (VTOLs) or for utility actuation on helicopters. The actuators can be matched with Liebherr´s remote electronic unit (REU). It offers great versatility for system and position control, data concentration, monitoring and conversion as well as high reliability.

Increased efficiency and weight reduction

Another solution for an optimized system architecture of helicopters is the application of decentralized hydraulic power generation by highly efficient hydraulic power packs (HEPPs). The HEPP is electrical driven and provides local hydraulic power at the place where it is needed, for example for braking or the extension and retraction of the landing gear. The integrated design features an electric-motor driven pump (EMP), which was displayed also at the TechDay.

Very positive feedback

The various exhibits attracted many interested visitors to the Liebherr booth: "It was a great day with interesting conversations. Many visitors stopped by: apprentices and engineers as well as employees from production, assembly, customer service and administration," reported Anton Gaile, Head of Chief Engineering Flight Control and Actuation Systems at Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg. Michael Ohmayer, Director Electronic Products at Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg added: "We were proud to show how Liebherr as a first-tier provider of on-board solutions is actively shaping the aviation industry.”
