Special vehicles for worldwide fire brigade use.
We are extremely familiar with special requirements – We have been manufacturing fire brigade cranes for professional fire brigades for over 40 years. Our standard cranes are fitted with additional fire-fighting equipment as required by the customer and are therefore tailor-made to suit the requirements of a professional fire brigade.
The extensive special accessories for the fire brigade crane include, for example, storage boxes, fire engine horns, working lights and also a traverse.
Liebherr fire brigade cranes feature our time-tested mobile crane technology and our extensive expertise –
fitted with the latest chassis and drive technology, our cranes will reach their deployment site quickly and safely. Even constricted sites pose no problem for them thanks to their compact dimensions and excellent manoeuvrability. The fire brigade cranes can achieve great heights and large radii using long telescopic booms and time-tested telescoping technology.
Fire brigade cranes are versatile in use and can perform a massive range of jobs.
Classic areas of use include the following:
We develop the software and hardware for the control system in-house. The heart of the system is the LICCON (Liebherr Computed Control) computer system. This forward-thinking control architecture enables it to adapt to the continually growing needs of the market.
VarioBase® enables each individual crane outrigger to be extended to variable lengths. At the same time, the crane's work is secured by the LICCON controlled load moment limiter. The extension length and support force of each outrigger is measured and the maximum lifting capacities for exactly this situation are calculated by the crane control.
The extended crane outriggers on the fire brigade crane are marked with warning lights and are clearly visible as potential obstacles even in the dark.
The spacious driver’s cab provide space for additional fire-fighting equipment and even the firefighters can equip themselves on the way to the site.
Adjustable working lights on the telescopic boom illuminate the working area.
The winch camera enables the crane operator to watch the winch from the crane cab.
The head camera mounted on the boom enables the load on the hook to be monitored permanently.
A rear-view camera at the rear of the vehicle makes it easer for the crane driver to reverse the crane.
Liebherr fire brigade cranes can be fitted out with various optional additional fire-fighting equipment.
Storage boxes on the crane’s undercarriage and superstructure mean that fire-fighting equipment can be carried on the crane.
The fire brigade crane can tow vehicles easily using its towbar.
A recovery winch at the rear of the vehicle means that even complex recovery procedures are possible.
The load traverse provide support for the safe recovery of accident-damaged vehicles.
Fire engine horns and blue rotating beacons clear the path for the fire brigade crane to the site.
The 230 V external supply and compressed air connector ensure that the fire brigade crane is always ready for use with charged batteries and full compressed air tanks.
Because of the fact that our two previous models (LTM 1040) have now been operating without any problems in fire brigade use for 30 years, we were very happy that we were able to purchase our two new cranes from Liebherr as well. This is because of how close we are to the plant, the after-sale service and the collaboration with the training department, but also the fact that we can source everything from one place, including the Rotzler winch and other special equipment. Another great benefit is the fact that the operator only has to be trained on an update of the familiar LICCON software and does not have to switch to a completely new system. All the operators are delighted with the additional safety delivered by VarioBase®, the performance of the crane and also the fact that the modern engine is significantly quieter and generates considerably lower emissions in the area around the vehicles, for example during the setup of the cranes. All in all, perfect package!

Dortmund Fire Brigade is proud of its new crane,
The service from Liebherr is straightforward, which is very important for a fire brigade.
When it came to replacing its old crane in March 2018, the fire service in Heilbronn once again decided to purchase a mobile crane from Liebherr. The main features behind its purchase of an LTM 1070-4.2 included VarioBase® and the LICCON work planner. Important add-on equipment such as a recovery winch, lifting beam, fire monitor and camera gear significantly extend the vehicle’s range of uses and make the crane and an essential all-rounder.
Nobody knows in advance when, how and where the fire service crane will be used. But when it is required, both man and machine must work perfectly. A specialist vehicle like this is used to provide technical assistance, fight large fires, but also to transport personnel in the rescue cage and for many other purposes. That is why modern, reliable equipment like that supplied by Liebherr is absolutely essential for both the rescue services and those that require rescuing.

Why choose a fire service crane from Liebherr?
Like the fire service itself, Liebherr is synonymous with safety and reliability. The new fire service crane is chiefly used for vehicle recovery work. We are a transit country with a busy motorway and as such we are repeatedly called out to attend serious accidents. The rear rope winch with a constant tensile force of 80 kN can be used successfully for vehicle recovery work and delivers a wide range of facilities for dealing with technical incidents involving heavy vehicles.
