In 2019, the Adani Group commissioned Liebherr to supply five mining excavators for the Carmichael coal mine in the Galilee Basin in Central Queensland, Australia. The first excavator has now been assembled on site.

The Mining division of the Liebherr Group develops and manufactures high-tech products in modern production facilities, particularly for quarrying raw materials in surface mining. Decision regarding the approval and realisation of mining projects lie with the relevant national authorities. Liebherr is responsible for ensuring that the products delivered comply with international standards as well as any site-specific requirements. Liebherr is following the public debate surrounding the Carmichael project, but shall honour its commitments to the Adani Group.
