Liebherr-Transportation Systems has won an order from Wuhan CRRC Co., Ltd. (China) to supply air conditioning systems for the rolling stock for the Wuhan Metro line. 372 air-conditioning units and 62 drivers cab ventilation units in total will be integrated in 31 trains and will ensure that passengers and drivers can commute comfortably in the district.

The Wuhan Metro is an elevated and underground urban metro system in the city of Wuhan, Hubei (China), operated by Wuhan Metro Co., Ltd. The vehicles will be put into use in the Wuhan Caidian Metro line, i.e. the first phase and the second phase of the Wuhan Metro Line 4 project.

The air conditioning system consists of two parts and has been customized according to Wuhan metro vehicle technical specifications and the related standards. It regulates the interior temperature and humidity level in the trains. One part consists of two roof-mounted packaged saloon units located in 1/4 and 3/4 of each car, supplying and returning air from underneath. The other part is a ventilation unit in the driver’s cab, which absorbs the air after treatment from the neighboring saloon units.

The order to supply air conditioning systems for the Wuhan Metro is a significant achievement for Liebherr-Transportation Systems and demonstrates the market’s confidence in products developed, manufactured and serviced by Liebherr.
