Liebherr-Aerospace has been selected by Azul, the largest Embraer Operator in Latin America and the third largest airline in Brazil, to overhaul the landing gear shipsets of their Embraer E-Jet E190/E195 fleet, starting in 2019.

The companies have signed a Letter of Intention with the commitment to sign an agreement in the upcoming months. This contract highlights the customer proximity that Liebherr-Aerospace has been developing in Brazil, with its office based in São José dos Campos, as well as the high service level achieved by Liebherr Aerospace Saline, Inc., Saline, Michigan (USA) on landing gear overhaul campaigns. It also signals further support activities in Brazil.

“We are honored to have been selected by Azul and very pleased to have the landing gears back in our repair shop network. I am certain Azul will be very satisfied with our unique OEM quality work”, commented Daniel Brum Pretto, Regional Sales Manager at Liebherr-Aerospace in Brazil.

Leonardo Zerbone da Costa, Head of Supply Chain at Azul, said: “Developing a tailored cost-effective partnership with the OEM ensures that Azul optimize its operating costs while maintaining the highest safety level of operation.”

The complete landing gear system for the E-Jet family E170, E175, E190 and E195 was developed by Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg GmbH, Lindenberg (Germany), Liebherr’s center of competence for flight controls, landing gear systems, gears, gearboxes as well as electronics.
