Senior Business Intelligence Analyst (Adelaide)Adelaide
Are you an experienced Data Engineering and Business Intelligence professional who can turn complex data landscapes into trusted, governed reporting solutions? As our Senior Business Intelligence and Data Governance Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Liebherr-Australia’s BI capability, strengthening Power BI reporting practices, uplifting data quality, and preparing the organisation for its next stage of enterprise data governance and modern analytics.
This role is suited to someone who can move beyond dashboard delivery and help establish the foundations for a scalable, governed BI and data platform over the next two years. You will mentor junior analysts and developers, partner with business leaders, define standards and reusable patterns, and contribute to future roadmap decisions involving Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake, or other enterprise data platforms. If you enjoy building capability, improving trust in data, and creating sustainable reporting practices, this is an opportunity to make a long-term impact.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the evolution of Business Intelligence across the organisation, creating a two-year roadmap that improves reporting maturity, data quality, governance, and self-service analytics.
- Design and champion BI standards, semantic model patterns, KPI definitions, workspace practices, access controls, lifecycle management, and report certification processes.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand priorities, translate requirements into trusted data products, and ensure analytics solutions support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Provide hands-on leadership across Power BI solutions, including data modelling, DAX, report design, performance optimisation, deployment pipelines, security, and adoption of reusable enterprise datasets.
- Work with IT, applications, and data teams to improve data engineering practices, including SQL, data integration, ELT/ETL patterns, data warehousing, master data, and data quality controls.
- Contribute to future-state platform planning and proof-of-concept activities across Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake, or equivalent cloud data platforms, ensuring choices align with business needs and governance principles.
- Establish practical data governance foundations covering ownership, stewardship, lineage, documentation, metadata, naming conventions, sensitivity, compliance, and issue resolution processes.
- Mentor junior BI team members through coaching, code and model reviews, solution design guidance, knowledge sharing, and the creation of repeatable delivery practices.
Skills & Experience:
- Over 10+ years’ experience in Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, Reporting, or Data Platform roles, ideally in a complex enterprise environment.
- Advanced Power BI capability, including data modelling, DAX, Power Query, semantic models, report performance, deployment, security, governance, and user adoption.
- Strong SQL, data modelling, dimensional modelling, data warehousing, ELT/ETL, integration, and data quality experience, with the ability to bridge business and technical discussions.
- Practical understanding of enterprise data governance, including data ownership, stewardship, lineage, metadata, master data, access management, privacy, and compliance considerations.
- Exposure to modern cloud analytics platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Services, Databricks, Snowflake, Lakehouse, Medallion Architecture, OneLake, or equivalent technologies highly regarded.
- Demonstrated ability to create standards, frameworks, documentation, reusable assets, and delivery practices that improve consistency and reduce reliance on individual report builders.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the confidence to influence senior stakeholders and guide teams through change.
- Experience mentoring analysts, BI developers, or data practitioners, with a collaborative leadership style that builds confidence and capability in junior team members.
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business Intelligence, or related discipline. Certifications in Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, data governance, or data management are highly regarded.
