Each year Mining Magazine, a trade journal covering the technical and operational aspects shaping the mining industry, recognizes original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) for the year’s outstanding new technologies and equipment performance. Voting for the 2013 Mining Magazine Award took place in November, and the winners were just announced. The Liebherr T 264 mining truck was among the products selected for a 2013 Mining Magazine Award.
Liebherr’s 240-ton mining truck edged out other new mining developments to take the Surface Mining (hard Rock) category. The T 264 combines an efficient Litronic Plus AC drive system and a high power engine to yield higher speeds on grade, and is sized to match ultra-class hydraulic excavators, electric shovels and wheel loaders for optimal performance. Nominees were announced for the awards in November of 2013, and Mining Magazine readers voted for their choice in a variety of categories such as Exploration, Mine Planning, and Mineral Processing. Liebherr is joined by OEMs such as Siemens, GE, and Weir as 2013 honorees.
Four years ago the R 9800 hydraulic shovel has awarded the Surface Mining, Capital Equipment category of the same magazine.
