The two new Liebherr wheeled excavators A 909 Compact and A 911 Compact Litronic have been honoured with the world-renowned iF DESIGN AWARD 2026 - a seal of quality that stands for outstanding product design and design quality. The A 909 Compact and A 911 Compact are two powerful machines that set new standards in their respective classes and offer customers an optimum solution for demanding applications. The new wheeled excavator series was presented to the public for the first time at Bauma 2025.
Liebherr is expanding its wheeled excavator product portfolio downwards with the two new models in the nine and eleven tonne classes. The new wheeled excavator series impresses with its combination of a well thought-out machine concept, user-friendly operation and first-class design. Their robust design and high performance make them particularly applicable for efficient work.
With the two completely newly developed models A 909 Compact and A 911 Compact, Liebherr presents a new generation of wheeled excavators whose design blends harmoniously into the existing product series and at the same time emphasises the high standards of quality, continuity and progressiveness. From the comfortable interior to the new INTUSI (Intuitive User Interface) operating system and the visually optimised exterior, all elements have been carefully thought through and designed. The innovative product design and design quality of the two machines has now also impressed the 129 independent design professionals on the internationally renowned iF DESIGN AWARD jury: In the "Product Design" discipline, category "Automobiles / Vehicles", the new wheeled excavator series was honoured, making it one of the best of over 10,000 submissions from 68 countries. The iF DESIGN AWARD is one of the world's most important design prizes and has been presented by iF International Forum Design GmbH for more than 70 years.
The A 909 Compact and A 911 Compact wheeled excavators combine compact dimensions with high performance. Thanks to small swing radii (tail swing radius of 1.50 m and 1.60 m and front swing radius of 2.00 m and 2.10 m) and a total weight of 9.9 tonnes for the A 909 Compact and 11.0 tonnes for the A 911 Compact, the two wheeled excavators can be used safely and flexibly even in confined spaces. At the same time, the two wheeled excavators score points with their great stability and enormous digging forces, ensuring high handling capacity and productivity at all times. The robust undercarriage construction ensures high drawbar pull, fast transport and excellent offroad gear. A service-orientated machine design with durable, partly maintenance-free components reduces operating costs and facilitates maintenance work from the ground. The comfortable operator's cab offers generous space, optimum visibility and the INTUSI operating system for ergonomic and safe working.
