Two Firsts for Liebherr Maritime Cranes

The LHM 420 is not only the first of this type in Argentina but it is also the first mobile harbour crane ever to be fully assembled with the aid of Liebherr’s new Remote Service tool. Close cooperation between Liebherr-Argentina S.A. on site in Campana and head office Liebherr MCCtec Rostock GmbH in Germany lead to a smooth and timely handover of the crane to the customer.

Montecon S.A. order two Liebherr electric rubber tyre gantry cranes (ERTG)

Montecon S.A. at the Port of Montevideo, Uruguay have placed an order with Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd. for two large electric rubber tyre gantry cranes. The machines are the first Liebherr RTGs in Uruguay. Stacking ten containers and a truck lane wide and one over six containers high, the ERTGs are ideal for maximising space utilisation as the port optimises an RTG operation that includes reefer handling.

Liebherr lifting space components at Port Canaveral

A special modified LHM 600 at Port Canaveral marks the largest mobile harbour crane in the U.S. to handle all types of heavy cargo, including space components. The machine features a maximum lifting capacity of up to 154 tonnes and 58 metres boom reach. A special double layer winch in combination with a high-rise configuration allows a maximum lifting height of up to 70 meters.

Liebherr USA, Co. headquarters opens at expanded campus in Newport News, Virginia

Liebherr USA, Co. marked a milestone on April 6, 2020 – the company formally moved in to a newly expanded campus. The facilities house employees who work in administration, finance, human resources, sales, information technology, marketing, product support and distribution for nine different product units under the Liebherr USA, Co. umbrella.

Flexible Barge Solution at the Harbor of New York

At the New York Harbor, NY, Sims Metal Management uses a Liebherr mobile harbour crane type LHM 600 to load scrap and unload salt. The crane is placed on a floating barge and can be moved to another terminal of the port if required. With a maximum lifting capacity of 75 tonnes in 4-rope grab operation, the crane is the strongest floating mobile harbour crane on a barge in the U.S. in 4-rope grab capacity.

Remote Service App

Liebherr expands its digital product portfolio for crawler cranes, deep foundation equipment and maritime cranes with the development of a Remote Service tool. This improves assistance through visual information and so leads to faster and easier troubleshooting. As part of an extended test phase, all customers will have free access to the new app until the end of 2020.

Monopiles for new wind farm in the Baltic Sea

In the port of Rostock, the first monopiles for the offshore wind farm “Kriegers Flak”, which is currently under construction, were loaded. The wind farm, located south of the Danish coast, will supply up to 600,000 households with electricity in the future and will thus become Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm. The loading of the monopile foundation piles will be handled by Liebherr’s heavy-duty gantry crane type TCC 78000, inaugurated in 2019. The manufacturer of the monopiles is the offshore wind specialist EEW Special Pipe Constructions GmbH, also based in Rostock.

Termont Montreal Inc. places order with Liebherr for STS and RMG cranes

Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd. continues its recent success in Canada with an order for one ship to shore (STS) container crane and one rail mounted gantry (RMG) crane for Termont Montreal Inc.

Accident During Overload Test

During the course of tests in line with industry standards on 2nd May 2020 in the international Port of Rostock, the offshore heavy lift crane HLC 295000 was severely damaged following an accident. Comprehensive investigations as to the cause and course of the accident are currently under way.

Liebherr mobile harbour cranes make Rostock a hub of the New Silk Road

The first containers of the New Silk Road have been loaded in the port of Rostock. EUROPORTS Germany used their recently acquired Liebherr LHM 550 mobile harbour cranes to quickly load the containers from Xi'an in China. EUROPORTS Germany plans to expand Rostock into a distribution centre and also to connect Sweden and Italy to the New Silk Road link.

The RMG’s have a span of 32 m, a lift height over rail of 12.5 m and cantilevers of 8 m and 9.7 m respectively. The machines have a safe working load of 45 tonnes and feature a rotating machinery trolley.
