One example of this successful approach is Victoria Santacruz from Ecuador. Through the PAM programme, she found her way to Liebherr and completed her training as an industrial mechanic there. Already during her school years in Ecuador, she became aware of the programme, which connects young people with German companies urgently seeking apprentices and skilled workers. After successfully completing the programme and proving her German language skills, Victoria went through the standard application process and impressed both professionally and personally.
At the Lindenberg site in Germany, Victoria Santacruz was trained as an expert in manufacturing device components. She masters turning, milling and assembling, and is capable of maintaining and commissioning complete production systems. Thanks to her dedication and outstanding performance, she was able to shorten her training period and was offered a permanent position early on.
Since 2019, the GIZ’s PAM programme has been promoting fair and safe training and labour migration, supporting companies like Liebherr in filling vacancies and benefiting from the diverse skills of international talent. More than 2,000 people have participated in the programme to date or are currently taking part.
