Press releases | 2026-03-02
At Conexpo, Liebherr underscores its strong expertise in compact equipment with the presentation of the R 914 Compact, a proven, highly versatile crawler excavator engineered to meet the challenges of modern urban construction sites. Combining compact dimensions with outstanding performance, the machine continues to set benchmarks in terms of flexibility, operator comfort, and reliability in confined-space environments.
Las Vegas, NV (USA), March 3, 2026 – Building on this success, Liebherr is preparing the arrival of the new R 915 Compact, first unveiled at Bauma in Munich last year. This next-generation model will soon replace the R 914 Compact within the product range, enhancing the lineup with increased efficiency, optimized ergonomics, and improved serviceability. Through this upcoming transition, Liebherr reaffirms its long-standing commitment to continuous innovation and to delivering high-performance solutions that support customers facing space-restricted, high-demand applications.
Already available on the market since 2018, the R 914 Compact crawler excavator continues to stand out as the most compact model produced by Liebherr in Colmar, France. Designed specifically for operations in confined environments such as urban construction sites, it delivers exceptional performance thanks to its extremely short tail swing. With an operating weight of 16.42 US-t (14.9 tonnes) and a 90 kW / 122 HP Tier 4f engine, the R 914 Compact offers impressive breakout forces and remarkable efficiency.
The excavator has been engineered to simplify daily operations: routine maintenance can be carried out easily at ground level, while the automatic central lubrication system significantly reduces time spent on servicing. Ensuring both comfort and safety, the R 914 Compact is equipped as standard with an air-suspended operator seat and integrated camera system providing all-around visibility. The R 914 Compact on display features a 78,7 in (2 000 mm) undercarriage with 19,7 in (500 mm) rubber track pads, a 3,09 US-t (2,8-tonnes) counterweight, and a monoboom measuring 15,09 ft (4.60 m) paired with a 8,69 ft (2.65 m) stick – providing an optimal balance of stability, reach, and operating flexibility for a wide range of applications.
Unveiled for the first time 2025 at the Bauma trade fair, the R 915 Compact represents the future of Liebherr’s compact excavator range and will soon replace the R 914 Compact. This new model delivers increased performance, improved versatility, and enhanced operator comfort, while preserving the compact dimensions required for work in restricted urban environments. With its upgraded architecture and refined operating precision, the R 915 Compact is designed to meet the evolving expectations of construction professionals and to extend Liebherr’s leadership in the compact segment.
