Le groupe voestalpine compte pas moins de 500 sites dans le monde entier. Leader sur le marché des biens technologiques et industriels, il se concentre sur les produits et les solutions métalliques. Sa division acier, chapeautée par l’entreprise voestalpine Stahl GmbH, réalise le plus fort chiffre d’affaires du groupe. À Linz, voestalpine Stahl GmbH gère un parc à ferraille de 100 000 m² où circulent chaque année près de six millions de tonnes d’acier.
Chaque jour, 160 et 180 tombereaux de ferraille sont livrés à l’aciérie. La disponibilité élevée des machines a été un critère déterminant pour sélectionner les machines adaptés afin de garantir un fonctionnement irréprochable du travail en cinq équipes (24 h/24, 7 jours/7) et de fournir une ferraille de qualité à la production d’acier. Liebherr a su marquer des points grâce à la fiabilité de ses machines de manutention et à l’excellence de son service client.
En moyenne, chaque LH 60 M Industry fonctionne 6000 heures par an. voestalpine a ainsi appuyé son choix sur la rentabilité.
L’un des paris à relever concernait les grappins dont la forme devait parfaitement correspondre aux wagons et qui devaient disposer d’une stabilité élevée. Liebherr a ainsi développé et testé avec voestalpine un nouveau grappin à cinq coquilles GMM 80-5 spécialement adapté à la LH 60 M Industry. Il affiche un volume de 0,90 m³, une ouverture de 2,34 m, soit exactement la largeur d’un camion et d’un wagon.
