Downer delivers Australia’s newest R 9800 Mining Excavator

Downer Mining recently purchased a Liebherr R 9800 BH excavator for its BMA Goonyella contract mining operations. The new machine added to the fleet of Liebherr excavators purchased since 2009, which includes four R 9800 BH excavators and four R 9400 excavators, used in both coal and iron ore applications.

Over the years, the R 984 mining excavator earned a solid reputation as the most flexible digging and loading tool in its class. After being available for sale for almost thirty years, Liebherr decided retire production of the legendary R 984 excavator.

Liebherr-Mining and the Mongolian company Monnis International are again intensifying their longstanding relationship: When M. Baz Chuluunbaatar, CEO of Monnis, visited the Bauma construction trade show in Munich (Germany), agreements were made to enlarge Liebherr’s mining product offerings for Mongolia.
