Liebherr USA, Co. was selected as a recipient of the 2023 “Top Employers for Interns” award by the Virginia Talent + Opportunity Partnership (V-TOP) and 757 Regional Internship Collaborative, Region 5. This collaborative was launched in March of 2022 through a partnership of Old Dominion University and the Hampton Roads Workforce Council with a goal of creating a pipeline of talent for employers across Hampton Roads.
This annual award recognizes 100 Virginia employers who provide high-quality internships to students. Examples of noteworthy intern programs include exposure to senior leaders, structured mentorship programs, housing allowances, paid time off, security clearances and training for industry certifications.
“All the award winners demonstrate a commitment to meaningful internships,” said Peter Blake, State Council of Higher Education for Virginia Director. “High-quality internships enhance a student’s educational experience and strengthen our workforce.”
The ‘Top Employers for Interns’ awards mark one of several examples the Commonwealth celebrates Virginia Intern Day, which recognizes employers and interns for their participation in work-based learning opportunities. The 757 Regional Internship Collaborative, Region 5, also hosted an event dubbed ‘Intern Night Out,’ on July 27th to recognize and celebrate the award recipients.
Celebrating Liebherr interns
Liebherr USA, Co. recognizes National Intern Day, July 27th, each year, highlighting current interns and their professional experiences within the company. This year, Liebherr hosted a luncheon celebrating the USA interns and their contributions to their respective departments.

The Liebherr companies in Virginia currently offers internships in many fields including Engineering, Logistics, Manufacturing, Human Resources, Marketing, Accounting, and Purchasing. Liebherr also offers industry specific internships for the 10 product segments that fall under the umbrella company headquartered in Newport News, VA.
