Looking for a compact pallet handling system for automating just one or two machining centers? Then the RLS is the uncomplicated and space-saving solution for you.
Pallet handling systems are constructed either as circular or linear storage systems. Whereas linear storage systems offer a large stock of parts for extensive unmanned manufacturing times and a large number of machines, round variants impress, above all, with their compact design. This is true of our Liebherr Rotary Loading System RLS, which has a high storage density and a small footprint. An RLS automates one to two machining centers and is therefore the ideal system solution for inexpensive entry into highly efficient manufacturing.
The setup station and the machine work area are arranged next to each other, reducing the paths of the operators and ensures a good overview.
If workloads change in the future, the rotary loading system is prepared. Storage locations can be expanded by integrating a rotary storage tower. If you wish to increase production capacity, a second machine can be connected. The ability to incorporate any desired machine contours in the RLS is an additional advantage, all components are pre-configured to accept these features.
The biggest advantage of automation with pallet handling is the reduction of unit costs. This results from the increase in machine utilization runtime up to 90% versus the 50% machine utilization runtime of machining centers without automation. Since you can now produce considerably more with the available machines, the unit costs fall dramatically by up to 40%.
The setup station is the interface between the operator and the manufacturing system. Here, workpieces are clamped onto the machine pallets. Ergonomics and ease of usability have first priority. In order to satisfy different requirements, Liebherr offers numerous setup station variants and additional functions expand the possibilities. An electric rotary axis relieves the burden on the operator and enables accessibility on all sides of the pallet; in addition, clamping hydraulics can be integrated.

Order management is the core element of cell control. It ensures on-time production and, depending on the manufacturing strategy, just-in-time as well. The possibility of vertically integrating your ERP system enables orders to be generated directly according to your delivery times. The cell control then creates the appropriate work schedules, checks resources and guides the operator through the necessary steps.
After the cell control has determined the orders and subdivided them into task packages, it’s the operators turn to set up parts, organize resources and report back the status. The cell control conveniently ensures that nothing has been forgotten and all the deadlines have been met. The setup dialog with indications for workpiece clamping, for example, can be generated directly from the CAM.
