Liebherr Components is the Diesel Progress International Newsmaker of the Year 2016. Liebherr hit numerous headlines within 2016 due to the many product launches and a number of announcements with regard to engine alliances. "We are honoured to receive this award and would like to thank Diesel Progress International for the acknowledgment of our achievements", said Pietro Iemmi, Managing Director Liebherr-Components AG, during the award ceremony in Las Vegas.

Co-operations with other well-known engine manufacturers will enable Liebherr to position itself broadly on the international market by strengthening its sales and service structures and by carrying out its development activities more effectively.

As to the product launches, Liebherr included the D96XX and D98XX diesel engine series, first presented at Bauma in Munich (Germany), into its engine portfolio. The first model of the D96XX series was a 20-cylinder diesel engine, the D9620, with 1,500 kW power output at a speed of 1,900 rpm. The 12-cylinder, V-configuration D9812 diesel engine was the first model of the D98XX series which will be followed by 16- and 20-cylinder variants. Once all the cylinder configurations of the D98XX series are available, the complete Liebherr diesel engine portfolio will cover a power range from 200 kW to 4,500 kW.

Having presented the new 20-cylinder gas engine, the G9620, at the EnergyDecentral in autumn 2016, Liebherr also expanded its portfolio of gas engines and entered the megawatt class with a power output of over 1,000 kWm.
