Liebherr-Transportation Systems was commissioned this year by Bombardier Transportation, Hennigsdorf (Germany), to equip TRAXX AC3 locomotives with heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC systems). The electric locomotives will be operated by Israel Railways (ISR) and are expected to start operating on newly electrified tracks in 2018. In total, 124 desk and 124 roof-mounted air conditioning systems will be installed in the driver’s cabs of the locomotives. Both versions of the air conditioning system are designed to be airtight. The first HVAC systems will be delivered already this year.
