This position is responsible for assisting the Compliance Manager with all associated tasks This includes all Compliance related activities of incoming and outgoing freight associated with LAM.
Responsibilities
- Provide compliance assistance to all LAM locations.
- Assist Manager as a resource in continuing education effort as it relates to Customs
- Assist Manager in developing and managing the Compliance Training Program.
- Assist Manager in maintaining a controlled documentation system, record retention, and information services functions including electronic records retention processes.
- Assists in conducting regular audits to identify potential weaknesses and noncompliance situations
- Ability to respond to all US Customs related entries, filings, questions, queries, ADD, CVD.
- Assist in enforcing legal and compliance rules.
- Assist in managing HTC data.
- Assist in negotiations of contracts of freight forwarders.
- Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; develop alternative solutions; Works well in-group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
- Understanding and meeting the needs of customers and addressing the interests and concerns of all stakeholders.
Competencies
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics or similar field from an accredited college or university; and at least five years of relevant work experience: or a combination of education and experience equivalent to at least 8 to 10 years of related experience.
- Strong working knowledge of Bureau of Customs & Border Protection regulations and processes as it applies to import/export procedures.
- Strong working knowledge of transportation.
- Demonstrated ability to work with international freight forwarders.
- Proficient in MS Office programs to include MS Excel, MS Word MS Outlook, MS Access, and MS Teams.
- Working knowledge of costing for all modes of transportation; containerized, truckload, oversized, air, small package, domestic and international.
- Knowledge of Baan or similar ERP system.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport.
- Ability to proficiently communicate orally and in writing in English and one of the following: French, German, or Spanish is a plus, but not a requirement.
