R 994B Rebuild for Premier Coal in Perth

At the beginning of 2020, Premier Coal approached Liebherr-Australia’s Perth branch to assist with rebuilding their R 994B, EX16. Premier Coal’s vision was to rebuild EX16 from the ground up, incorporating improvements and repairs along the way.

The work consisted of a complete rebuilt engine module supplied from the Perth workshop, a slew ring replacement, boom, stick, fuel tank and hydraulic tank repair and refurbishments, removal of the old access ladder and install of a new OEM access ladder, along with a multitude of other replacement components and repairs.

Once all these repairs were completed, the machine received a complete paint respray and now presents as a new machine.

With over 62,000 machine hours and operating in difficult digging conditions prior to the rebuild taking place, Premier Coal have expressed their appreciation at the collaborative efforts, quality workmanship, and execution of all the services and support by Liebherr-Australia to make the rebuild of EX16 a realisation.

Premier Coal have been pleased to share that since returning to work at the end of April, EX16’s availability has climbed to an average of 97% and 130 hours MTBF (mean time between failure).
