In India's metropolis, Mumbai, a new metro line is currently under construction. It is aimed to improve traffic and rail congestion of the city. In this giant project, the Robbins Company has been entrusted with parts of the tunnel boring work. To do the job, Robbins relies once again on Liebherr's proven main bearings.

Starting in June 2018, the twin Robbins Crossover TBMs bore in parallel 2.8 km (1.7 mi) long tunnels. The twin 6.65 m (21.8 ft) machines combine features of a hard rock Single Shield TBM and an Earth Pressure Balance Machine and are ideal for application in mixed geology.

Liebherr has specifically designed a new Liduro Energy Storage system LES 300 for highly dynamic industrial applications with high peak loads and variable power requirements. It helps to achieve considerable cost savings and a significant increase in efficiency.

The Belgian company E-Crane has chosen Liebherr’s modified pressure and pull cylinders from the 380 bar series-production range for its material handling equipment. In it, two hydraulic cylinders per unit will be responsible for the movement of the boom.

For the movement of both boom and stick, the E-Crane material handlers have installed two identical hydraulic cylinders.

A prototype has been successfully field-tested for a longer period of time. As of now, newly built material handlers added to the 400 unit fleet will be equipped with Liebherr hydraulic cylinders.

Liebherr develops and manufactures high quality drive units and rope winches at its site in Biberach (Germany). The components find their use not only in various industrial applications, but also in giant equipment, such as onshore and offshore wind turbines, tunnel drilling or earthmoving machines.

With the new pallet handling system, Liebherr has achieved a new level of flexibility and performance. The system is linked to two turning and milling centres and enables the production team to cover an even wider product range - from batch size 1 to even larger sizes - to produce around-the-clock, partly even without an operator.
